Privacy Statement
‘Baku Animal Rescue Society’ Foundation (BARS Foundation) processes personal data and other data in accordance with the applicable legislation. The privacy of our donors, adopters, volunteers, website visitors and other interested parties is of great importance to us. The personal data is therefore handled and secured with the utmost possible care. Personal data is processed in accordance with the legal provisions such as the Personal Data Protection Act, and the General Data Protection Regulation, as of 25 May 2018.
Applicability of privacy statement
This privacy statement provides information about the processing of personal data by or on behalf of BARS Foundation and only relates to the use of personal data of its members and visitors to barsadopt.nl.
This privacy statement does not apply to third-party websites, such as websites or apps that BARS Foundation refers to on its website and in its mailings. We advise to consult the privacy policy of these third parties on the relevant websites.
Processing of personal data
The collection of personal data takes place via the website when you subscribe to our e-mail newsletter or when you register as an adopter, donor or volunteer. And offline, this is done via our donation or adoption leaflet or a telephone call. BARS Foundation uses your personal data (name, address, place of residence, telephone number, e-mail address, gender and date of birth) to keep you informed about what we do, to do fundraising and for internal administration. We will always aim to take your preferences into account. If you however do not wish to receive this information, please inform us in writing. You can find the contact details below.
For what purposes do we collect your personal data?
We may only process personal data if we have a specific purpose for this. Below is an overview of personal data that we process and why we do it.
To implement our agreements with you (for example your donorship or subscription to our e-mail newsletter).
For the promotion of our legitimate interests. For example, to analyse donations over the years, to better understand our donors.
To meet our legal obligations. For example, we have to share certain information about donations with the Tax Authorities.
Permission given by you, for example for sending fundraising e-mails. You can always withdraw this permission.
Personal data is not used for purposes other than those described above
With whom do we share your personal data?
We will only provide your information to third parties if this contributes to the aforementioned purposes. These third parties are usually companies that support us in our work. Think of companies that send letters to us or banks that collect your donation. For the rest, we only provide data to third parties if required by law.
How long do we keep your data?
We do not store your personal data for longer than necessary for the purposes for which we collected it. Unless we are legally obliged to keep the data longer.
Safe handling of your data
We ensure adequate security for the systems in which we store your data. We try as far as possible to ensure that your data is only accessible to authorised persons.
All data you enter on our website is sent via a secure connection.

Baku Animal Rescue Society has taken the necessary organisational and contractual measures to ensure that the personal data is processed and protected in accordance with European and Dutch legislation. Feel free to let us know if you are not satisfied with our handling of your personal data. We are happy to do everything to solve it. You can also submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
